Con Edison Engineer Honored by YWCA NYC for Empowering Young Women, Students
A Con Edison engineer is the recipient of the 2024 YWCA-NYC “Emerging Leader” award for years of service towards counseling young women and college students to pursue STEAAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, advocacy, and math) education.
Rosa Patino-Prenz also earned the recognition for her work promoting social justice and DEI initiatives.
“It has been gratifying to support, inspire, and empower women to achieve their professional goals. As the clean energy future begins to take shape, it is more important than ever to ensure that everyone has a seat at the table. I am honored to receive this recognition from the YWCA and I look forward to continuing this work at Con Edison,” said Patino-Prenz.
Founded in 1858, YWCA-NYC has spent more than a century empowering historically marginalized communities through education.
Patino-Prenz started her career at Con Edison 17 years ago, and has held positions in engineering, construction management, change management, process improvement, and project management. She currently serves as section manager at Con Edison’s Astoria Operations complex.
She earned a master’s degree in systems engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the City College of New York. At Con Edison, she also gives her time to the Women of Con Edison, the Hispanic Employee Resource Group, and DEI Councils.
Patino-Prenz emigrated to the United States as a child from the Dominican Republic. She lives with her family in East Elmhurst, Queens.
