Yonkers Resident Receives Con Edison’s Highest Honor

Christianna Ambo-Jones Uses the ‘Power of Perspective’ to Succeed at Work and in Her Community

Christianna Ambo-Jones’s mantra is “the power of perspective,” and it is that guide that has earned her Con Edison’s highest honor.

Ambo-Jones, a Yonkers resident and design manager for Con Edison’s Customer Clean Energy Programs, is a winner of the Living Our Values (LOV) award which is for high-achieving employees who exemplify stellar character on and off the job.

She says the “power of perspective” is about understanding where people are coming from and how they are shaped by experiences.

“It helps remove bias, judgement and conflict and makes us all better able to work together and understand each other,” she explained.

Perspective was the tool Ambo-Jones used in 2020 to create “Building Bridges,” townhall experiences that enabled Con Edison employees to share their work experiences and emotions in the wake of the George Floyd murder.

“Chrisy is a trusted problem solver,” said Greg Elcock, Con Edison Vice President of Energy Efficiency and Ambo-Jones’s boss. “She is often sought out to assist teams even outside of her group to find creative, shared-value solutions to challenges.”

Ambo-Jones said she was humbled to win Con Edison’s LOV award and gratified that the recognition proves her point about “seeing through the lens of diversity and inclusion.”

Her other perspective is all about her native land Dominica, nicknamed the nature island of the Caribbean for its preserved natural environment. “It’s in my DNA to want to help us all get to a clean energy future,” she said.

After emigrating from Dominica, Ambo-Jones lived in the Bronx and later moved to Yonkers.  She and her children – a 9-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy – still sing every Sunday at St. Joan of Arc’s church in the Bronx.

Ambo-Jones also is active in the children’s school and book fair and volunteers for a Caribbean culture festival every year. She joined Con Edison in 2015.
