Con Edison to Outline Clean Energy Plans at Hudson Yards Earth Day Event

Company to Talk about EVs, Renewables, Energy Efficiency And All its Other Climate Initiatives

Con Edison will participate in an Earth Day event Friday at the Shops at Hudson Yards on Manhattan’s West Side.

The company’s presence will include remarks by Vicki Kuo, Con Edison’s vice president, Energy Efficiency and Distributed Resource Planning, who will speak at 5:15 p.m. Kuo is expected to outline the company’s plans to design, build, and operate an energy grid that delivers clean, reliable power and meets New Yorkers’ electricity needs.

"Earth Day is an opportunity for Con Edison to discuss the steps we are taking to lead the transition to a clean energy future,” Kuo said. “The work of the women and men of Con Edison and of our customers, alongside the efforts of many others, will help us meet New York's climate goals, including a net-zero sustainable environment. Our low-carbon future will mean improved public health, cleaner air and water, and more equitable economic opportunities.”

Kuo, who has been with Con Edison since 1998, will speak about the company’s Clean Energy Commitment, which details all the company is doing to help New York State and New York City meet their environmental goals.

The company supports a move away from fossil fuels and toward renewable energy and other low-carbon technologies.

Representatives of Con Edison will be at the site from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to speak with members of the public about the company’s programs and commitment to the environment.

The Earth Day Initiative at 20 Hudson Yards will feature exhibits by environmental nonprofits and sustainable businesses.

Using less energy is a quick way for customers to reduce their carbon footprint and save money on their bills. Con Edison is there to help with energy efficiency programs that pay incentives to customers who make energy-saving upgrades to their homes and businesses.

The company encourages customers to consider whether solar energy is right for them and offers guidance on the solar installation process. Con Edison is also all in on electric vehicles and is trying to make it easier and more convenient for drivers to adopt and charge their EVs.

Con Edison and its workers will participate in other events to mark Earth Day.

Representatives of the company’s E-Mobility team will be on Lenox Road between New York Avenue and East 34th Street in Brooklyn from noon to 2 p.m. today with representatives from SUNY Downstate.

The event with the FLO Network and the New York City Department of Transportation will mark the installation of four electric vehicle chargers on the campus. Con Edison and the DOT are installing 120 charging plugs across the five boroughs.
