Con Edison's Jackson Koo, Recognized as an Outstanding Asian-American Business Professional
Con Edison celebrates Jackson Koo, project manager in emergency preparedness, as he is recognized as an Outstanding Asian American by the Asian American Business Development Center (AABDC).
Recipients of the award represent the best of Asian-American corporate executives, entrepreneurs, and professionals who have positively contributed to Asian-American communities and the U.S. economy, according to the AABDC.

“The sky’s the limit, if you continue to pursue your personal and professional endeavors with a clear goal in mind,” said Koo.
He’s followed that path since earning his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at The Cooper Union. After an internship at Con Edison, and, for the past 20 years, Koo has showed essential leadership skills in various supervisory and engineering positions ranging across different utility departments.
In his current role, Koo manages the weather and technology team, responsible for making operational decisions that ensure uninterrupted power to the millions of customers in New York City, Westchester, and Orange & Rockland counties.
In his free time, Koo volunteers as head coach of the Electric Dragons, Con Edison’s dragon boat racing team. His dedication and leadership have been instrumental in creating a positive team culture and success at numerous races.
“Just as in boat racing, the joy of an accomplishment comes from the challenges you overcome together as a team,” he said. “I’m grateful to have the opportunity to merge both my passions within Con Edison’s unwavering support.”
He served on the 2023 Host Committee of the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York, which took place August 12.
Throughout his tenure at Con Edison, Koo has also participated in Con Edison’s employee resource group, Asian Professionals Alliance of Con Edison (APACE) and given back to his community. He has spearheaded numerous volunteer initiatives on mentoring, habitat restoration, community cleanups, and motivated employees around him fostering diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
