Con Edison of New York and Orange and Rockland Utilities are sending 76 workers to the Albany area to help National Grid crews restore electric service to customers affected by yesterday’s storm.
The group includes 56 line construction workers and support personnel from Con Edison and 20 line technicians and support personnel from O&R.
The strong, fast-moving storm knocked trees and branches onto power lines and other equipment, affecting service to customers.
Con Edison and O&R dispatched their emergency responders after National Grid requested help through the North Atlantic Mutual Assistance Group (NAMAG), the utility industry’s mutual aid program that supports member companies’ emergency service recovery efforts.
